New Arrivals: What I'm Loving!

Happy Friday!

I was super excited to see new arrivals on J. Crew's website yesterday morning! I'm loving a few things. And, my wishlist just keeps expanding!!! Here are my favorites:

I LOVE the color of the new Hacking jacket in double-serge wool. I had my PS order this immediately because this color is GREAT! I'm really trying to add pops of color to my wardrobe. I love these two product shots on the website.

J. Crew's colors are amazing. I will post a review as soon as this lovely arrives!

I'm also loving a few blouses. I ordered the paisley perfect shirt as well, but sadly, it's backordered until November 1.

My final wishlist addition is the super cute Boat Blouse in the wreath color.

My PS said that new arrivals will be in-store on Monday, October 3; she also noted that this will be a smaller roll-out. The larger holiday roll-out is scheduled for late October.

What's on your wishlist? Do tell!

Review: J. Crew Bubble Necklace

Hi Everyone!

I saw the Bubble Necklace in Modern Red when I popped into my B&M a few days ago, but I walked away without trying it on. Today, I decided to try it, and dear readers, I LOVE it. I missed out on this necklace a few years ago, so I decided to grab it this time. My wonderful hubby loves it too, so that makes it a winner for sure!

Here is a pic of me trying it on in the store:

Have you tried this necklace on? What do you think of it?

See it on AudreyBella's blog here

Thanks for stopping by!

Rebooting: Back to the Drawing Board

Hi Everyone,

I thought that I had found the perfect boots. I LOVE the color of Madewell's English Saddle Archive Leather Boots, but dear readers, they just don't fit me well. So, I have to find another pair of rich cognac/tan boots. Here are the options I'm considering:

J. Crew's Booker Boots:

I really like the Masala Chai color. I can think of multiple outfit combinations with these boots.

I'm also considering two options from Nine West. The Vermillion Boot seen below:

And, the second boot from Nine West is the Mariola:

Finally, I'm considering the Frye Melissa Button Knee-High Boot:

What is your favorite boot this season? Do tell!

Review: Madewell Archive Leather Boots

Madewell's Archive Leather Boots have been on my wishlist for a month. Unfortunately, we don't have a Madewell in our mall. So, my wonderful hubby agreed to take me on a day trip to Easton Mall in Columbus, Ohio this past Saturday. I love the color of the Archive boots, but I'm concerned about how they fit me. The SA's gave mixed opinions--one said that the boots should have a slouchy fit; the other said they shouldn't be slouchy. Hmmmm, okay.

Here are a few pics. Excuse the first one of me wearing one boot! Sorry, we had just left church the day after our trip and my wonderful hubby was starving. We made a quick stop by J. Crew before dinner to show the boots to my PS. This is the downside of not having a Madewell (and a bunch of other stores) in our mall.

Here are a few more pics. I'm concerned that these boots are too slouchy on me. What do you think?

The One That Got Away

Happy weekend!

J. Crew has been my favorite clothing store since I was in graduate school. I still remember my first purchase. My favorite purchase ever, hands down, is the Bella Jacket. I love the bella so much that I bought it in four different colors: black, camel, dark charcoal, and a deep orange (I can't remember the actual name of the color). I've been haunted, however, by my failure to purchase the bella jacket in neon azalea. I should note that I also have a factory version of this jacket in a berry color.

Dear readers, just look at this gorgeous color! I search Ebay constantly in the hopes that I will find the one that got away! And, I am not the only J.Crew fan who loves this wonderful jacket. Check out Alexis's post about the bella jacket on the wonderful Mothership, J. Crew Aficionada, here.

What, dear readers, is the one that got away from you? Do tell!

Birthday Wishlist

Today is my birthday (yay!), so I thought I'd create a post about my current wishlist and recent purchases. I'll start with the recent purchases. I really like the fit/colors of the Eden Cardigan, so I grabbed the Heather Dark Grape and Bright Dahlia.

This sweater is super comfy and versatile; it's currently 30% off!

I'm also loving the Boy Shirt in Stripe Crepe de Chine. Initially, I overlooked this shirt because I have both the Elodie and Blythe blouses. After trying on the navy version of the Boy Shirt in Stripe Crepe de Chine, I couldn't pass on it. And, I'm a sucker for stripes!

I'm really looking forward to wearing this blouse with a bright pencil skirt such as the No. 2 Pencil Skirt in Double-Serge Wool in Vibrant Flame. Finally, I grabbed the following three blouses: the Natasha top in polka-dot and Vivid Poppy, as well as the Silk polka-dot tee. I think the Natasha tops have endless styling possibilities. I intend to wear the polka-dot version of the Natasha top with bright pencil skirts as well.

I just love the feminine details of this top. See it on Rose of the wonderful 1 More Shopping Blog. I LOVE how she pairs it with the No. 2 pencil skirt in Vintage Tweed in blush, which I also own.

My wishlist includes the following items: the Madewell Archive boots seen here:

The wonderful Shopwithm gives these boots two thumbs up here

My final two wishlist items are non-j.crew. I am a sucker for bright colors and classy collars. So, I am all over the Cherie Coat from Kate Spade.

This color is absolutely beautiful!!! And, finally, I have my eyes on the Colorblocked Sweater Skirt in Blue at Anthropologie.

What are you currently eyeing?

Hi Everyone!
I stopped by my B & M today to try on a few of the new arrivals. I just couldn't give up on the Hacking Jacket in tipped double serge-wool. Boy, oh boy, am I glad that I didn't. I LOVE the black. And, since I missed out on the Lexington Blazer, I just couldn't pass on this one.

I really like the product shot on the website. I can think of several outfit combinations.

Here's a really grainy fitting room pic (excuse the t-shirt!). Sorry for the bad image.

What do you think of this version of the Hacking jacket? What new arrivals are you currently craving?

Back to Basics

I love to wear basic sweaters, tees, and cardigans on my non-teaching days. I write and prepare for class in coffee shops, so comfort is a must for me! Here are a few of my favorite basics from J. Crew:

I LOVE the colors of the Perfect-Fit Mixed-Tape Cardigan; the Perfect-Fit tanks are super comfy layering pieces too. I'm also crazy about the Vintage Cotton V-neck tee .

I always layer. I have a tough time wearing a woven/button-down shirt without a tank underneath, so the perfect-fit tank is my best (clothing) friend.

What are your favorite basic pieces from J. Crew (or elsewhere!)? Do tell!

P.S. I have a great giveaway planned when I reach 75 followers! Spread the word!

Review: Loft Lace Pencil Skirt

I popped into Ann Taylor Loft today because they're offering 30% off of everything. I tried on and purchased the Lace Pencil Skirt with Ponte Lining. Let me tell you dear readers, this skirt is perfection!

I will post pics later today! Have you tried this skirt on? Do tell!

Review: J. Crew Hacking Jacket--Heather Dark Grape

I've been eyeing the Hacking jacket since it was released on the J. Crew website. I initially ordered the Midnight Ocean color. I couldn't figure out how it would fit into my wardrobe and my in-store PS didn't like the color on me. So, we decided to try the Heather Dark Grape color. This color didn't work on me either. And, I think the fit is off on me. I think I need to stick with the Schoolboy Blazer.

So, I exchanged the Hacking Jacket for this Schoolboy Blazer (I don't see it online).

What do you think of this Schoolboy Blazer?

Bust or Must?

Initially, I overlooked this blazer. However, I became intrigued by it after one of my daily visits to the J. Crew website.

See it on AppGal, Shopwithm, and Lisa

Pencil Me In!

J. Crew really knows how to make a classic, professional pencil skirt.  I am loving the array of colors from their most recent roll-outs (and from last year).  The Viridian Green color has received lots of love in the blogging community.  This is my favorite purchase of the year!  And, I hear that there is a new retail only "teal" color.  I can't wait to see it--I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will be sold in a size 14.  And, I'm hoping that the teal color isn't too close to the Nightfall Blue color from last year.

J Crew skirt
What a great color!
The other colors of the no. 2 pencil skirt in wool are just as beautiful.  And, of course, I had to grab the vibrant flame, spicy gold, and jazzy purple too!  These skirts are beautiful basics; they jazz up any wardrobe/outfit.  What colors do you own?  Do tell!

Welcome to my blog, jcrewismyfavstore!  I know that there are tons of shopping blogs out there, but I decided to launch out and create a blog about my love for J. Crew too.  I know that I'm adding to a long list of great blogs about J. Crew, particularly the Mothership, J. Crew Aficionada.  However, I've been hoping to see a J. Crew blog for women closer to my size (12-14).  So, I decided to jump right in.  I hope that you'll join me as I  partake in the Crewlade!  Again, a big shout out to the wonderful J. Crew blogging community!
