J. Crew Lady Lace Love

Hi Everyone!

I received the Lady Lace Popover today, and let me tell you dear readers, it was love at first sight! And, thanks to Rose of the wonderful 1 More Shopping blog, this purchase was a *sweet* deal!

I really like the fit. I know that there has been some discussion about tight arm syndrome, but I didn't have that problem. My only problem is that I think the sweater emphasizes my problem area, my stomach. So, a Spanx purchase is definitely in order!

Here is a quick snap of me wearing the popover with a woven underneath. Sorry for the blurry pic, but our camera is broken--ugh!

And, finally, here is my polyvore set showing one way I plan to wear the Lady Lace Popover:

Thursday Thoughts: Pattern Mixing

Hi Everyone!

A recent purchase has caused me to think a great deal about pattern mixing. I love the following blouse and skirt from Anthropologie; they were shown together in either the catalog or on the website. I wonder, however, if I am brave enough to pull it off.

Skirt (see more cotton skirts)

I think that these pieces are really great, and they really add variety to my wardrobe. However, I keep asking myself if they should be worn together. What do you think? Do you mix patterns? Do tell!

Looking Forward!

Hi Everyone!

My online PS sent me pictures of two skirts yesterday, and she told me that these skirts will be released on the J. Crew website soon. Here are the pics:

I really like this bright color! I'm trying to add more color to my wardrobe, so I'm looking forward to trying this lovely skirt on!

I really like the bow on this skirt, but I'm concerned about how the brown tones in the skirt will look against my skin.

What do you think of these skirts? Do tell!

J. Crew New Arrivals

Hi Everyone!

I stopped by my store yesterday to check out the new arrivals. It was a pretty decent size rollout, and I found a few things that I really like. If you can't tell already, I LOVE pencil skirts. I have a hard time finding pants/jeans that fit me properly. Here are a few pics of a new No. 2 Pencil Skirt in Tweed. The sizing in the tweed No. 2 Pencil skirts has been off for me. The No. 2 Pencil Skirt in Gilded Tweed was too tight in the hips in a size 14, the Harvest Tweed in a size 14 fit me well, but I sized down to a 12 in the following tweed skirt.

I really like this skirt; it looks great with bright colors. I'm thinking about pairing the skirt with another new item that was in my store yesterday, the Fiesta Purple color of the Blythe blouse in silk:

My store also had a few new colors in the jackie sweater. I really like the Maraschino Cherry color seen here:

There was also a new Natasha top in a leopard print. And, I saw 2 new boy shirts, one of which is the flannel boy shirt that was in the most recent online rollout. Finally, I saw lots of new cable sweaters, as well as the Majesty Peacoat in Navy. I was hoping to grab the following shirt, but my store doesn't have it yet:

Have you seen the new arrivals in store? If so, what do you think of this new rollout? Did you purchase anything? Do tell!

I really like how the skirt is styled on the J. Crew website here:

Review: J.Crew Harvest Tweed Pencil Skirt

Hi Everyone!

I had the Harvest Tweed Pencil Skirt delivered to my PS at the store earlier this week because I was out of town. She sent me an email when it arrived to say that it is beautiful. She was absolutely right, as always! I think that fit is TTS. And, I think that there are multiple styling options for this skirt.

Here are a few IRL pics:

I really like how the skirt is styled on the website here:

And, finally, here is the polyvore I created with two shirt/styling options:

J. Crew Downtown Field Jacket

Last week, I received an email from J. Crew about the "comeback" jacket of the season: the Downtown Field Jacket. I LOVE this jacket. I like that I can wear it casually, or dress it up a bit with the Wool Tweed Oona pencil skirt, a classic white shirt, and pearls (this is how it was styled in the store when I purchased the jacket a year ago).

Do you own the Downtown Field Jacket? If so, how do you style it? Do tell!

P.S.I hope that the Bella Jacket will make a comeback!!! Also, I have reviews of the no. 2 Pencil skirt in Paisley and the Harvest Tweed Pencil skirt coming up later this week!

J. Crew Personal Shopper

Hi Everyone!

I've been thinking a lot about the benefits of having a wonderful J. Crew personal shopper lately. So, I decided to create a post about the wonderful complimentary service. The J. Crew website encourages using the service, suggesting that doing so guarantees that you will "never worry about what you're going to wear again." And, a few years ago I saw a statement that said something about never wanting to shop without your PS again. I agree with both of these statements. I LOVE both of my personal shoppers. I have an in-store and online PS, so I feel like I'm covered from all angles.

My store PS is the absolute BEST. I've worked with her since 2008. We have a great rapport; I trust her wholeheartedly. She knows me well, and she literally remembers EVERY item I purchase from J. Crew and other stores. And, she's always honest with me about fit. I credit my store PS for changing my style. When I started shopping with her, I only wanted to purchase jackets (you couldn't get me to even look at a skirt or a necklace). Now, because of her, I've learned how to maximize my wardrobe, and more important, how to accessorize with jewelry and scarves. My store PS must be awesome if my wonderful hubby repeatedly says, "wow, that's a great outfit. Christy rocks."

My online PS is also wonderful; she consistently contacts me about upcoming rollouts/products, and she's located several "sold out" items for me. I love the personal shopper service. Do you have a personal shopper? Do tell about your experience!

I'm also loving the no. 2 Pencil Skirt in Harvest Tweed Skirt and the Neon Azalea Blythe Blouse it is styled with on the J. Crew website.

Review: Anthropologie Herringbone Boots

Hi Everyone!

I've been searching for the perfect boot for this season for a few weeks now. J. Crew is my absolute favorite store, but Anthropologie is a close second. It's tough for me to shop at Anthropologie because, unfortunately, we don't have one in the great Bluegrass State. The nearest Anthropologie is about 70 miles away in Cincinnati, Ohio. Thank goodness my wonderful husband doesn't mind taking day trips there often! Recently, however, we ventured to Easton Mall in Columbus, Ohio. One of the SA's in Anthropologie was wearing the lovely Herringbone boots--they looked great. These boots are adorable and I love the fit/quality. I had to size up a 1/2 size. Anthropologie boots are currently on promo for 30 % off. That discount coupled with my birthday discount made this purchase a no brainer. Here are a few pictures:

Looking Forward!

Hi Everyone!

My PS sent me pictures of two forthcoming skirts. The first one is the no. 2 pencil skirt in double-serge wool in neon azalea.

I LOVE this color. I missed out on the bella jacket in this color. I can't wait until this skirt is released!!!

The second skirt is the no. 2 pencil skirt in royal paisley. This is the same pattern as the recently released paisley perfect shirt. I have the shirt; I adore this print. This skirt is a must!

What do you think of these skirts? Do tell!
