J. Crew Viv Stripe Flats

Hi Everyone!

I received the J. Crew Viv Stripe Flats yesterday.  I've been eyeing these shoes for a long time; however, I was waiting patiently for them to go on sale.  And, I was also trying to justify owning the ballet flats in stripe and the Viv Stripe flats.  It's crazy, I know.  Here are IRL pictures of the Viv Stripe Flats:

For some reason, I think that the pointy toe on the Viv Flats looks better with pencil skirts than the rounded toe of the ballet flats seen below:

My retail personal shopper says that I'm crazy, LOL, what do you think?  Do tell!

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. I like the pointy flats better with skirts - but I think both are cute. Love the Viv flats and really was hoping to find them on sale...not such luck for me. Enjoy!

    1. JulieStyles: Thanks SO much! I totally agree with you that the pointy toe looks better with pencil skirts. I think that these shoes are a keeper--both of them, LOL!

  2. I agree with you, the pointed toe on Viv flats look much better with skirts. The round toe is still cute but the pointed gives the look a more sophisticated edge.

    1. Small Town Gal: you nailed it, I think that the pointy toe gives a "more sophisticated edge" too. I think that these shoes will look great with pencil skirts.

  3. I personally prefer pointy toes on anything--they make your feet look bigger, which makes your legs look slimmer! Love the striped Vivs!!

  4. I have to agree that the pointed toe would look better with a pencil skirt, and since you have and wear a lot of pencil skirts, you need the pointed ones. And they were on sale so you should keep them :)

I am having the same dilemma with the Viv printed patent flats. I want them, but I already have the Valentinas in the same print and ballet flats in a similar print.

  5. I prefer the pointy ones myself (can't believe I'm saying this...I've NEVER liked pointy-toed shoes till now!) You're right that they look better with pencil skirts. I'd keep those :)

  6. I agree...I've never worn flats much with my skirts until lately with the debut of the viv. Something about the pointy toe gives a sophisticated feel.

  7. I love the pointy toe best! I wish I could wear J.Crew shoes they're too narrow for my feet, so I always end up with shoe envy! :)

  8. I agree with you that the pointy toes look a little dressier than the rounded toe. Both are super cute though!!

I have an OT question for you - how have your dreamweaver flats held up? Mine arrived yesterday. I love them but I'm worried about wearing through the leather with my toe, it seems kind of thin. If they were $20 shoes I wouldn't care. Any feedback you have would be appreciated! Thank you!!

    1. Kristin: Thanks SO much! I think that I'm definitely pairing my pencil skirts with the pointy toe shoes because of what you've said about them looking dressier than the rounded toe.

About the dreamweaver flats: I haven't worn mine yet. I plan to wear them next week. Like you, I am a bit concerned that I'll need to be careful while wearing them. I think that they will hold up, but I'd watch bumping into things if you catch what I mean. Please let me know what you decide about keeping them.

  9. How does the sizing compare on the ballet flat and viv flat? I love them both!
