Storing Jewelry and an OOTD

Hi Everyone!

As you know, I LOVE J. Crew and Anthropologie jewelry.  Lately, however, I've had trouble storing my necklaces so that they're accessible when I'm putting an outfit together.  Here's how I currently store my jewelry:

Okay, so this is pretty ineffective jewelry storage.  Most of the containers I've found, however, have very small necklace trays.

How do you store your jewelry?  Do tell!

Finally,  here is a quick snap of an OOTD featuring the J. Crew No. 2 Pencil Skirt in Double-Serge Cotton in Succulent Green and one of my favorite Anthropologie necklaces, the Citrus Twist necklace:

Here is a closer picture of the necklace:

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. That necklace is perfect with the green of the skirt! Great outfit (& picture!)

I bought a couple of white canvas frames from the craft store (the kind you'd paint on, I guess) and hung them on the wall. I bought some bling-y thumbtacks and stuck them into the top wood edge of the canvas (in a horizontal row), and I hang necklaces from those. This way it is all in view and everything pops against the white background.

What a great idea for jewelry storage. I totally agree with you that it's great to have everything in view.

  2. I had a post a few years ago that showed my jewelry storage.

    http://audreybella.blogspot.com/2009/12/jewelry-storage.html

Also, those pieces I don't wear very often stay in their boxes but I have little pictures taped to the side of them so I know what's in the box and never have to go through and open every single one.

  3. Love your pencil skirt paired with the ever-so-cute Anthro necklace. What a perfect match!

I don't have a huge selection of necklaces as yours but I have a necklace stand to hold all my necklaces so easier access to grab them. I used to hang them on knobs of drawers but then make it hard to open and close drawers.

  6. Yay! An OOTD of the day! The green looks beautiful on your Rynetta and very classy with the white button up :)

I use a cupcake tiered serving tray for my bracelets (I could never find a jewelry tree big enough for all my bracelets :)) I'm with Ina - if I don't see my jewelry, then I rarely wear it. I'm a visual person :)

  7. Loving your outfit, the Citrus Twist necklace, and the photo of you as a sweet couple! Who is hiding behind you? She looks very well-dressed, too!

As far as jewelry storage, I hang a few pretty necklaces from randomly placed hooks on the wall, but most of it goes into small ziploc-type baggies, one baggie per necklace or bracelet or pair of earrings. All my few rings go in one small bag. I just toss all the bags into one of the smaller drawers of the dresser, but have no trouble finding them thanks to the transparent bags. Admittedly this strategy isn't optimal for delicate pieces, so the few I have of those reside in a ceramic box with lid on top of the dresser, or they hang from a wall hook. (I also store my way-too-many scarves the same way, folded up in larger ziplocs, in their own drawer.)

OOOOOO, great idea about clear bags. I need another post asking for help with my scarves; they are all over the place in my closet!

  8. When DH bought a giant flat-screen TV a couple of years ago, I had to do something with the media armoire in which we stored our old 27" TV. I moved it to my "boudoir" and converted it to a sweater cabinet by closing up the open back and lining it with cedar strips. MUCH more room than a cedar chest, LOL! I put a row of hooks inside the doors on which to hang my costume necklaces--it is probably not ideal to hang them for storage, but since I made most of them myself I can fix them if need be.

  10. Hi!

I use the hanging jewelry organizers like in this link:

    http://www.organize.com/hanging-jewelry-organizer.html

I bought several of them from Joan Rivers on QVC. They have velcro loops for necklaces and bracelets and others have clear pockets for earrings, etc. They have storage on both sides. I have mine hanging in my walk in closet room right with my clothing, so I can match jewelry to my outfit. I love these organizers and I love being able to see my jewelry all at once. I think these organizers are genius!

  11. You look amazing in your OOTD!!

My jewelry stash is smaller and mostly comprises earrings, but I purchased a couple shadow boxes in Marshalls for $20 and use them as jewelry storage.

    Here's how one looks: http://web.stagram.com/p/215097876740085340_9665548

  12. Oh if I could rifle through your jewelry drawers, haha!

I bought one of those 3-tier velvet jewelry display stands a few weeks back from Amazon - they have a ton of selection for cheap. My jewelry still doesn't look awesome, but at least everything is out and easy to reference.

  16. I treated myself to a "jewelry armoire" a few years ago, and it's been great. It's got a lift-up top, with holders for rings and delicate earrings, a divided drawer (small squares) for pins and large earrings, another divided drawer (rectangles) for bracelets, watches, heavy bead necklaces which shouldn't hang, an undivided drawer for larger stuff, and two "front doors" which each have hooks for chains. Whew. That's it. I don't like to hang anything that's "strung." The armoire lives in my closet, where it stands on a (very) narrow chest of drawers that holds small purses and, um, stuff.

    1. wellfedfred: Thanks SO much for this idea; your armoire sounds divine. Like you, I don't like to hang things that are already "strung," so I think that's why my necklaces are all in boxes or drawers. Thanks again!

  18. You look great in the succulent green skirt. I bought velvet flocked jewelry stands from Ebay, like the ones you see in the store. Best idea ever. At least for me. The boxes stopped working for me, but I keep them for heavier or more special pieces.
