J. Crew Double-Cloth Lady Day Coat in Retro Jade

Hi Everyone!

I will respond to all of the comments made on my last few posts this evening!  My apologies for the delayed responses.

I've been eyeing the Double-Cloth Lady Day Coat in Retro Jade since it appeared on the J. Crew website.  I LOVE this coat and the Retro Jade color.  Here are a few IRL pictures of the coat:

  2. Beautiful coat! I have a couple of the lady coats from two years ago and they have held up very well. I live in a very cold climate so I got the thinsulate with mine and they are warm and stylish, which isn't easy to find. Love the Retro Jade color!

    1. Luxette: Thanks SO much!!! This coat has thinsulate too, which is really nice. Oddly, I didn't see an option to order this coat without the thinsulate on the J. Crew website. I love the retro jade color too. It's gorgeous!!!

  9. Beautiful! Does the color look exactly like the retro jade pencil skirt?

    1. Jeannette: I agree! The color does look like the retro jade pencil skirt. The coat color seems a bit lighter, but I think that's because of the difference in material. I hope that makes sense.

  11. Gosh, that's a beautiful color. I love my camel coat and my black coat, but after buying that Majestic Purple Metro Coat last year, I found myself reaching for it most often. Nice buy, Rynetta!

  12. Hey, great coat and great shade. I have a lady day in a dark green from a few years ago and it reminds me a bit of that.

I live in a climate that literally requires every single type of outerwear from super lightweight to downy puffers (once every two years or so we will be hit with a cold snap of 5-10 F and the puffers are so awesome for that kind of chill), so I REALLY appreciate your review.

I have ordered the slim trench in the pink shade with my cardholder 25% off, I can't wait to get it and do a J. Crew review (finally, it's been a while!).

  13. The coat looks lovely and what a gorgeous color. Did you take your usual coat size? I have a Lady Day from a few years ago and I had to size up, wondering if that is still the case.

    1. xoxo: Thanks SO much! It's definitely a great coat/color. I did take my normal size 12. I considered sizing up; however, my VPS reminded me that sizing up on the top usually results in baggy shoulders for me. I think that my normal size fits well.

Thanks SO much for being here!

  14. The color is beautiful! I have a similar colored coat from Talbots from two years ago that I have barely worn, and I am going to definitely wear it more once the cooler weather starts. I like the catalog image with this coat and a gingham shirt. Anyhow, I have the Lady Day coat from a few years ago, and it is for sure a fall staple. :)

  15. Hello ladies
I'm a french woman and I'm in love with this coat too. Would like to buy the lady day in pink but hesitates on the size. In France I'm wearing size 38/40 (between 6 and 8). Is JCrew sizing well, I mean are the coats big ? I bought last year a Banana Republic skirt size 6 in California. I have narrow shoulders.
Woud you mind writing me the measures for a coat in size 6 and in size 8 ?
    Thanks !!!!
    Isabelle

  16. I LOVE this coa - it's my favorite of all the J.Crew winter coat styles. Mine is red and if I had a bigger closet, I'd buy more. I love the Retro Jade - I purchased the J.Crew #2 pencil skirt and Cambridge cable in that color.
