J. Crew Swoop Top in Punk Floral

Hi Everyone!

I received the J. Crew Swoop Top in Punk Floral earlier today.  I sized up in this top for a better fit.  I LOVE this blouse, but I'd love your honest feedback about the fit.

Here are a few IRL pictures of the blouse:

This top looks great with seersucker!  Here are a few store styling inspiration images:

What do you think of the J. Crew Swoop Top in Punk Floral, particularly how the blouse fits on me?  Do tell!

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. I think its a beautiful top. I love it. The front looks like it fits well, but the back looks a bit too big. Do you think your regular size in this top would fit? I'm scared to order, because I think it runs small. I'm just trying to get an accurate fit review. Let me know what you think Rynetta.

    1. Angie's Closet: Thanks SO much for your feedback! I totally agree with you that the top fits well in the front, but the back is a little big. My regular size 12 didn't fit really well in the front because of the pleats. I think that you could probably go with your regular size. I needed to size up to get the front of the shirt to lay properly. I hope that helps!

Thanks SO much for being here!

    2. Rynetta,
Do you think its worth keeping and having a tailor fix the back for you ?

    3. Rynetta, I got my top today and now I see what you were talking about. Not to mention that I have arms like sausages. The arms didn't fit. Very disappointing.

  2. Rynetta, I like the top on you! I ordered one size up so the pleats are completely flat. I think it's supposed to fit loosely. HTH!

  3. i think it's supposed to be loose fitting, so it works. do you find the back gapes at the peep hole? if not, keep this size! xo

    1. P: Thanks a bunch! I agree that this top is supposed to fit a bit loose. I don't think that the back gapes at the peep hole, but I'll try it on again just to be sure!

  4. I'm completely in love with that print, and the back is scandalous... in a good way :-) Regarding fit: I think you should size down. Odds are the silhouette will still be relaxed, but just a bit more tailored and figure-skimming. I find that I pretty much always have to size down in J Crew's relaxed or boxy cuts.

    1. joyandsunshine: Like you, I'm completely in love with this print. I think that it's fabulous!!! I tried the size down, my normal size 12, and it doesn't fit right in the front. I really appreciate your help/feedback!

  5. Rynetta, I absolutely love this color on you! Regarding fit, I think it is a little big, and I would try your regular size (looks like the cutout may peekaboo a bit).
How's your book going? I am also writing away, and like you, have urned every single surface in my house into a book repository. I think my husband (who is not an academic) is a little terrified he may wake up one morning with a pile on books on him!

    1. Anthro Blogger: Thanks SO much!!! I really love this color/print against my skin tone too! My regular size 12 didn't fit well in the front unfortunately.

About my book: you're super sweet to ask! It's coming along really well. I'm very pleased with my progress!!! And, YAY for you "writing away." The best advice I've ever received is to write DAILY, even if it's only 2 pages. And, LOL about your husband being terrified about waking up with a pile of books on him. I can assure you that my amazing husband shares that fear, LOL!!!

  6. I too sized up in this one because with the smaller size the back part was not lying well, pulling apart where the fabric is stitched together. It isn't an easy fit for those of us who are ahem well endowed. While the smaller size fit me in the shoulders, I was concerned about the unfortunate straining going on with the fabric in the back. It looks lovely on you and you should go with the size that feels most comfortable.

  8. I'm really surprised at how sheer this top is, I can see your striped shorts through it in the front. I think the color is OK but not fabulous on you and the shape doesn't do you any favors either. You have many other tops that are so lovely and flattering, I would say pass on this one.

    1. xoxo: Thanks SO much for your feedback!!! I genuinely appreciate your honesty. For some reason, the sheerness doesn't bother me. I guess it's because I don' feel like I'm showing the world my goods, LOL! And, I really like the print/color against my skin. Again, I genuinely appreciate your feedback and honest opinion!!!!

  9. Rynetta - the color is fabulous on you and it is adorable on you if you want it boxier but I also think you could size down, as well. Did you try your size? Work it girl! You rock all your outfits!

  10. Gorgeous colour on you! I think the fit looks great from the front, but perhaps a tad loose at the back. It's beautiful!

  11. I would try a size down to see what it looks like but I fear it would be small in the bust and pull. This one looks beautiful in the front but a bit loose in the back. You could always take it to a tailor to see what their ideas would be. I love it so hopefully you can make it work.

  13. I LOVE this shirt to pieces !!! I got my size my normal size in this shirt, however just like some have mentioned the back kept pulling a little too much at the stitching. Will go back and try a size up.

This shirt looks GREAT on you Rynetta, can't wait to see what statement necklace you style this one with.
