I knew that the J. Crew Regent Blazer in Red Houndstooth Plaid would be added to my wardrobe as soon as I saw it in the most recent Style Guide. This blazer is breathtaking. There is only one review on the J. Crew website for this blazer at this point, but that reviewer totally agrees with me.
I do not like rushing in the mornings, so I plan my outfits months in advance, but this beauty is at the top of my "wear it immediately" list:
The details inside the blazer are exquisite. This lining is SO fab.
This is the website image that sold me on this beautiful blazer:
Fit Details: I took my normal size 12 in this blazer, so the fit is TTS. I am drawn to blazers because they're easy teaching outfits for me. This blazer is so unique, classy, and preppy. It fits my style completely. And, I love the striped lining inside the blazer because it pairs so well with the red plaid. It's an unexpected yet totally amazing combination in my opinion.
Fall is my favorite season because I love to layer. And, one of my favorite wardrobe staples is a fun/unique sweater. I love J. Crew sweaters. They are wardrobe workhorses for me. I own sweaters from J. Crew from as far back as 2006/2007 and I have found the superb quality to be consistent throughout the years. Recently, I added two sweaters to my wardrobe that will be on constant repeat for years to come.
The Lace Applique Sweater is an adorable design with spectacular details that will jazz up a cute pair of jeans:
Fit Details: This sweater fits TTS. The sweater is a little boxy, but not too boxy. And, wearing a shirt underneath the sweater makes the sweater less boxy in my opinion. The applique details are well-done and securely attached. This is a great quality piece.
I also added the Jeweled Wool Back-Zip Sweater to my closet recently. I was totally in love with the jeweled details on the shoulder. I am a huge fan of embellishments on sweaters:
Fit Details: This sweater fits TTS. I took my normal size Large. And, I love the details on this beauty. The back zip adds a great unique feature, too. The sweater is great quality and the fit is superb, too. The weight is substantial without being too heavy or suffocating. The back-zip is flattering even on this black girl booty, LOL, because it lays well on the butt. This beauty gets 5-stars on the J. Crew website in the solid colors.
The J. Crew Faux-Leather Pleated Midi Skirt is one of my favorite recent wardrobe additions. The "spiced raisin" color of this skirt is SO vibrant and rich. As many of you know, I am a pencil skirt girl through and through. But, I have really been loving the a-line/midi silhouette. It is surprisingly flattering.
This J. Crew Pinterest image really sold me on the skirt:
Details about the skirt: Fit--I took my normal size 14. The skirt is designed to fit higher on the waist. Rather than drawing attention to the "problem" areas, this skirt camouflages them. The skirt is not too heavy, it's lightweight and flowy/breezy. And, the faux leather is not stiff. As I said in my review of the J. Crew Collection A-line Midi Skirt in Italian Wool Blend (review here) , I was initially resistant to this silhouette. However, this silhouette is very flattering on curvier figures in my opinion.
I have a review of the J. Crew Collection A-Line Midi Skirt in Italian Wool Blend to share today. This skirt was at the top of my must-have list when I saw it in the NYFW pictures last year. I am typically drawn to pencil skirt silhouettes, but I am SO glad that I tried this beautiful skirt because it is amazing. Seriously amazing.
Here are two IRL pictures of the skirt in the "Brunswick Blue" colorway:
Fit: I took my normal size 14 in this skirt. The fit is TTS to *slightly* roomy. I was nervous that the bow would add bulk to the midsection, but I actually think that it flatters the midsection. The A-line silhouette is also very flattering. The fabric is substantial without being too heavy, but it's not as heavy as the J. Crew No. 2 Pencil Skirt in Double-Serge Wool. I love the skirt because it's a great design with equally great quality that pushes me out of my pencil skirt comfort zone.
The Kate Spade Friends and Family sale is going on now for 25% off purchases. I am a huge fan of Kate Spade handbags because they're unique, they're fun, and they're great quality. Recently, I was able to locate one of my favorite KS handbags, the Cameron Street Fabric Mega Margot, thanks to some excellent customer service from a store leader at a CA Kate Spade store.
Fit: I took my normal size 12 in this coat, so the fit is TTS. I adore this coat because it is so classic, it fits extremely well, and the quality is superb. I am looking forward to wearing this beauty as soon as the weather permits.
