I hope that you had a Merry Christmas (if you celebrate)! I had a great day with my amazing hubby! We are SO unconventional and I love the holiday traditions that we are creating for ourselves. We had tacos for lunch, then we ate leftovers from a great pot of Creole Chili that my husband made for dinner Thursday night. We watched NBA basketball for most of the day! The holidays are super tough without my Mom now, so I appreciate these low key days!
There are bound to be tons of popbacks as returns roll in from holiday shopping, so I thought that I would share a review of the J. Crew Black Watch Tuxedo Pant in Crimson since these beauties may reappear on the website. Initially, I passed on these pants because I wasn't sure about how they would look on me. Then, I ordered the J. Crew Black Watch Tuxedo Pant, which I love, so I decided to try the "crimson" version, too.
The "crimson" Black Watch Pant:
Fit Details: These pants are cut very slim, so definitely size up. I sized up *one* size from a 14 to a 16. The reviews on the website also indicate the need to size up. These pants are superb. The quality is exceptional. There is a wide waist band that I think helps to hide lumps and bumps. The material is substantial without being too thick or too bulky. And, these beautiful pants are lined. I love the pattern on these pants because it's so vibrant. J. Crew nails patterns and colors like no other retailer in my opinion.
Fit Details: I sized up from a 12 to a 14 in this coat because it is a "slim fit." Most of the reviewers on the J. Crew website note that they sized up as well. I am wearing the J. Crew Oversized Striped Turtleneck underneath, which is thick at all. I could definitely get a thicker sweater underneath the coat. This coat is SO classic, timeless, and versatile.
The J. Crew Sweater Skirt is equally adorable. The fit is TTS. I am typically a size 14 on bottom, and I went with the size Large. The skirt will stretch because of the sweater material. There is an elastic waistband with a zipper in the back. Also, the skirt is longer than the typical pencil skirt, but the length really elongates my legs. The material is substantial, but not incredibly thick. It's not see through either in my opinion.
J. Crew website and Pinterest images are incredibly convincing/amazing. But, that is how marketing works, right? I was sold on the image/outfit the moment that I saw it:
I have a review of the J. Crew Embellished Mockneck Sweater to share. I knew that I would add this beauty to my closet the moment that it appeared on the J. Crew website. I am a sucker for gorgeous jeweled details:
Fit Details: I took my normal size Large in this sweater. The fit is TTS to a bit roomy on the bottom. The "embellished" details are striking. They are securely attached to the sweater. And, I love that it's a mockneck sweater because that feature makes the sequins really pop/stand out. This sweater was also offered in Navy. I have seen the sweater reappear on the website frequently, so keep checking for popbacks.
The elbow patch is a striking and fun detail on this sweater. It makes the sweater a little more preppy looking in my opinion.
Fit Details: I took my normal size Large in this sweater, so the fit is TTS. The fit is also roomy enough to layer a button-down underneath without feeling confined. The sweater is not itchy at all when worn without a button-down. I wish that this sweater was offered in retail stores because I know that it would have flown off the shelves. It sold out online very quickly. The sweater is paired with what appears to be a glen plaid pant on the J. Crew website. This sweater is definitely versatile, so it can be worn with pants, jeans, or a skirt. I am wearing my favorite J. Crew Toothpick Jeans in Parker Wash.
Today, I wore the J. Crew Sequin Buffalo Check Collection Pant to church. Initially, I thought that these pants would be solely for weekend wear/a festive occasion. However, I decided quickly that these beauties are more versatile than that! So, here is how I styled the pants for church (thanks to one of my amazing online VPSs!):
I had planned to wear these absolutely stunning pants with a J. Crew Always Chambray Shirt, but as my VPS pointed out, these pants would look great with a bit of subtle print mixing. She was SO right.
These pants are absolutely stunning. The fit/quality is superb. I took my normal size 14, but you can likely size down because of the elastic waist, especially if you do not have my black girl booty, LOL! I really like the elastic waist because it makes it easier to do the half-tuck with shirts and because the pants do not feel confining. Also, the sequins are super secure. The sequins are attached/sewn downward, so they do not rub together or get tangled up while walking or sitting down. I highly recommend these gorgeous pants!
The J. Crew Edged Lace Blouse is one of my favorite pieces from the recent holiday website launches. I think that the blouse is sophisticated, classy, and absolutely adorable. The lace details are great quality in my opinion:
I took my normal size 12 in this blouse. The fit is TTS to slightly roomy. I like that the blouse does not fit too close to my body. And, I also really like the white collar and cuffs. I think that the white collar/cuffs add an unexpected touch to offset the lace details so that it's not too lace-y. This blouse can be dressed down with distressed denim or dressed up with skirt. I would feel comfortable wearing this outfit to church or to teach because the blouse is so versatile. This blouse has received great reviews (a 4.5ish rating on the website) and I totally see why. I highly recommend this beauty. The green/navy version of this blouse is adorable, too; however, I think that lace details are hidden a bit in that colorway.
